Forecast New England is the definitive portal for the weather and climate of all six New England states — built to make the official National Weather Service forecast fast, clean, and highway-clear for every one of the 68 counties and planning regions of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island and Vermont, from Block Island and the Cape and Islands to the summit of Mount Washington and the Great North Woods.
Six states, one weather map. A nor'easter does not stop at a state line: the same storm that puts rain on the Connecticut shoreline puts a foot on the Berkshires, two feet on the Worcester hills and a blizzard on the Maine coast, and where its rain–snow line sets up is the whole forecast for fifteen million people. New England is small enough to be one map and varied enough to need six — so the region has a hub, and each state has its own site inside it.
The look borrows from the American Interstate system — the reflective paper, the green guide signs, the blue service signs, the brown recreation signs, and the red-white-and-blue route shields — set in Overpass, the typeface drawn from the Highway Gothic lettering on those signs. New England takes a granite paper and a cranberry accent, on bog red — its own note in the network.
New England is covered close-up by 5 region sites, each on its own subdomain of forecastnewengland.com — the same maps, the same live radar and the same climate record as this site, drawn to one metro or region instead of the whole state, with a page for every city in it. They are part of Forecast New England, not separate sites: /about on any of them lands back here.
New England is bounded by Forecast New York down the western line and by Forecast Canada across Québec and New Brunswick — each tinted in its own accent on the hero map and clickable from it. Inside the region, Forecast Maine and Forecast Boston are full sites of their own and the map hands off to them, while Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Vermont and Rhode Island each have a site on their own subdomain. The rest of the Forecast <State> network is part of the same system.
